Local activities
Canoeing down the Ardèche gorges
A tip: leave early in the morning during summer! You can choose the distance of your journey – a great way to try it out before going on a full two-day bivouac adventure.
Hiking through the Ardèche gorges – Visorando
Most people know the gorges by canoe, but hiking is just as rewarding: stunning landscapes, springs, sandy or pebbly beaches, and various loop options. Be warned: the climb back can be tough!
Ibie Valley
A peaceful valley perfect for strolling, hiking, and swimming in crystal-clear water. We love it.
Dent de Rez
The GR trail runs right past Mas Lafarge and leads up to the summit in just a couple of hours. A protected natural area with 19 wild orchid species, Bonelli’s eagle and vultures.
Le Coiron
Explore this volcanic plateau by car, bike or on foot. Unique scenery of basalt flows and volcanic rock. Cyclists beware: the climb is steep!
Caving (Spéléo)
We might be biased – we’re caving fans ourselves – but Ardèche is perfect for it! Beginners should go with a guide. Gras has 16 known caves. We offer storage for your gear.
Via ferrata – Pont du Diable
After testing many routes, this is one of our favourites: fun, accessible, with a zipline and great scenery. Gear rental available on site. Swimming possible too.
Via ferrata – Villefort Lake
A lesser-known, peaceful trail at the far end of the lake, facing Castanet castle. Free access, but you must bring your own gear. A gentle route high above the water.
Bike rentals
Ardèche is cycling country. L’Ardéchoise is the largest amateur race in France. And you’re just over an hour from Mont Ventoux. You’ll find high-quality bikes here, with or without electric assist.
Cycling routes – Greenways – Via Ardèche
From short loops to multi-day tours, there’s something for everyone. We offer a small bike room and a workshop area for repairs.
Motorbike rides
Our gîte is biker-friendly – and so are we! You’ll find a mini workshop and compressor on site.
Wine tasting
Our favourite wine cellar: La Cave de Saint Remèze. Friendly welcome, well-made wines at great prices, and above all, the Beaumont des Gras – how classy is that?
Fishing
Plenty of rivers and streams for every kind of angler, from calm lakes to mountain torrents.
Aven d’Orgnac
The cave of my childhood – my first steps underground at 6 years old with my grandfather. A beautiful cavern, a fascinating museum, practical workshops, via cordata, and even a descent into the 47-metre natural shaft.
Grotte de La Forestière
A less developed cave but full of charm, with giant tree roots piercing through in search of water.
Grotte de la Madeleine
Another stunning cave, especially for its incredible viewpoint over the gorges.
Grotte de la Salamandre
The latest developed cave – once explored only by speleologists. Impressive formations and many on-site activities.
Chauvet 2 Cave
A replica of the original Chauvet Cave. The reproduction work alone is worth the trip. Museum, bookshop, and great activities for all ages.
Lavender House
An engaging and passionate visit, even for those who don’t usually like museums or lavender (according to our friends who loved it!).
Museum of Ardèche
Located in Balazuc. A fascinating fossil collection and an exploration of evolution. Plus stargazing nights and interactive exhibits.
Crocodile Farm
A tropical park with crocodiles, birds, snakes, and more. A complete change of scenery guaranteed.
