LE MAS LAFARGE

Gîte & holiday rental
in Ardèche

Mas Lafarge is an authentic stone farmhouse from 1750, located in the village of Gras, facing the Ardèche Regional Nature Park. This small, listed, car-free village is surrounded by lavender fields, vineyards, and unique Mediterranean scrubland. It’s here that we’ve created our holiday rentals.

Situated in southern Ardèche, just 20 minutes from the famous Ardèche Gorges and their iconic arch, 25 minutes from Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, and 30 minutes from Montélimar, it’s the perfect spot for a memorable vacation.

3 gîtes in Ardèche

Mas Lafarge includes three independent gîtes (which can be rented together depending on group size), a 250 m² garden, a shared swimming pool facing south/southwest with stunning views over the Dent de Rez and the Combe de Croze valley, a small bike & motorbike workshop, a shared laundry room, and a lovely pétanque area.

Our gîtes, our approach

Located in the heart of a nature reserve, we wanted our home to reflect an environmentally friendly philosophy. We paid special attention to insulation (thick wood fiber, high-performance double glazing, quality solid wood shutters), and to water management – a precious resource in this region (25,000-liter rainwater tank for garden and pool), as well as the architectural tradition of the area (small shuttered windows…).

This is why we invite our guests to support this eco-conscious approach with a few simple gestures: close shutters and windows during the hottest hours to keep the house cool, ventilate during the cooler hours, save water, and sort waste easily (glass, paper/cardboard, compost, etc.).

Your stay in Ardèche

Traditional markets, caves, wineries, petting farms, summer festivals, charming villages (Larnas, Saint-Montan, Alba-la-Romaine, Viviers), hiking trails, cycling and motorbike routes, Crocodile Farm, canoeing, etc.

The village of Gras is only 20 minutes by car from the Ardèche Gorges, where you can kayak, canoe, or simply picnic and swim by the river. Closer to Gras, there’s a natural swimming spot called Le Trou du Loup just 10 minutes away by car – it’s a bit wild and off the beaten path.

For hiking and trekking, the house overlooks one of the region’s most beautiful GR trails. In just two hours, it will lead you to the summit of the Dent de Rez, a unique botanical and wildlife reserve. In good weather, you can see the Vercors, the Alps, Mont Ventoux and even the sea.

The garrigue trails are perfect for mountain biking, and the small roads are ideal for road cycling. A riding centre is just 20 minutes away by car. Caving is also popular here, with many natural caves to explore. Some are open to visitors, such as the Grotte de la Madeleine, Aven Marzal, Grotte Saint-Marcel, Aven d’Orgnac and its prehistory museum, as well as the replica of the Chauvet Cave – La Caverne.

For those who wish to spend a day by the sea, the Mediterranean is less than two hours away.

The house is just a 5-minute walk from a small sheep farm at the bottom of the village – a delightful place for children and a great spot to buy local skincare products made with essential oils.

In the village, you’ll find a lovely restaurant run by Michel and Karine, a post office, and a hairdresser. Just 4 km away, there’s a small grocery store with everything you need.
